At Fab Science we love sharing awesome science with kids…and we want them to carry on experimenting at home!
Follow us on Facebook to keep updated or join our Facebook group to share your own ideas and show us what you have been up to. You can even ask us your tricky science questions and we’ll do our best to help.
You don’t need a science lab! We have designed all of these activities to use things that you may find around the house. Don’t rush to order any special equipment, the only thing that we would suggest finding is a pair of goggles. These could be science goggles from a science kit, DIY goggles, Nerf goggles, swimming goggles…be creative! As long as they protect your eyes from vinegar eruptions then they’re fine!
You may want to put together a box of things to use for science. We’ll be posting some ideas on this soon.
We have suggested activities which are suitable for children aged 5+ to carry out with adult supervision. Please check that you are happy that the activity is suitable for your child before you begin. Check any household chemicals for safety, children should only be using things that they would normally use such as soap, foods, washing up liquid, not harsh cleaning products.
Eyes, clothes and surfaces should be protected.
Emma, our chief Fab Scientist, is a teacher and loves answering questions (or at least she’ll try!). She has taught science from Year 1 to Year 11 so throw your questions over. The best place to ask is on the Fab Science Facebook group as other people may be interested too. Or you can email emma@fabscience.co.uk
The best place for updates is the Fab Science Facebook page, we will be posting regularly. You can also join the Fab Science Facebook group where you can share your own ideas and show us what experiments you have been up to!

These blogs are written by Emma Ranade, a qualified science teacher with several years’ experience in mainstream and special schools. We have all sort of workshops that we can bring to your school, such as Brilliant Bodies, Fantastic Forces and Potty Potions. Let your school know that you’d like a visit from a Fab Scientist! They can find out more information on our schools page.
Every school holiday brings a different Fab Science camp. We have venues in St Albans, Cambridge, Hertford, Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Walden. Check out the camps page for all the information. These camps sell out quickly though so you may want to get on the mailing list to be the first to know when booking opens.
You can even get your very own Fab Scientist to come to your birthday party! You and your friends can make your own potions and explosions…it will make your party go with a bang! We take bookings up to a year in advance and we’re flexible on dates if social distancing continues. Here’s our party page.
